Jogira Sara Ra Ra Movie Review: A Decent Attempt with Flaws in the Second Half

Introduction

Jogira Sara Ra Ra Movie Review: This is a lighthearted film about a wedding planner named Jogi Pratap, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Living in Lucknow, Jogi works for a company called ‘Shaandaar Events’ and finds himself frustrated with his family, consisting of his mother, sister, aunt, and a few other sisters. He firmly believes that getting married would be disastrous, as it means adding another woman to his already chaotic family. However, his life takes an unexpected turn when he is hired to plan the wedding of Dimple, the daughter of Devki Nandan Chaubey.

The Storyline

Jogi’s client, Devki Nandan Chaubey, seeks his help in breaking off the marriage between his daughter Dimple and Lallu Pandey. Dimple, too, doesn’t want to get married and asks Jogi to assist her in ending the alliance. Jogi comes up with clever ideas to sabotage the wedding, but they all backfire. In a desperate move, he stages Dimple’s kidnapping, convincing Lallu that marrying a kidnapped girl would bring shame to their families. Lallu ultimately calls off the wedding, making Dimple ecstatic. However, things take an unexpected turn when Jogi finds himself compelled to marry Dimple. The rest of the film explores the consequences of this turn of events.

The Film’s Genre and Screenplay

The film’s story, written by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, falls within the fun-filled and feel-good genre, similar to movies like “Bareilly Ki Barfi,” “Shubh Mangal Saavdhan,” and “Tanu Weds Manu.” The screenplay, also by Ghalib Asad Bhopali, starts off well but loses its way in the second half, becoming chaotic and disjointed. However, the dialogues are brilliantly written and provide plenty of comedic moments that are sure to generate laughter.

Direction and Memorable Moments

Kushan Nandy’s direction is satisfactory, and he skillfully handles various scenes throughout the film. Some notable moments include Lallu dancing to Mithun Chakraborty’s songs, Jogi’s fight with his sister followed by his attempts to reconcile, and the humorous carrom game featuring Chacha Chaudhary (Sanjay Mishra). These scenes display Nandy’s ability to capture the essence of comedy and create enjoyable moments for the audience.

Flaws in the Second Half

While the first half of the movie is funny and focused, the second half becomes a bit random and loses its coherence. For instance, Jogi pretending to have a sexually transmitted disease is an interesting plot point, but it lacks a logical conclusion. The pregnancy, jailbreak, and kidnapping tracks also suffer from similar issues. The climax, reminiscent of Priyadarshan’s style, fails to deliver the desired impact.

Performances and Music

Jogira Sara Ra Ra Movie Review: Nawazuddin Siddiqui shines in his role, displaying impeccable comic timing. It is refreshing to see him in a light-hearted film, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Neha Sharma’s screen presence is commendable, although her rebellious character could have had more depth, particularly in the second half. Mahaakshay Chakraborty delivers an adorable and unrecognizable performance. Sanjay Mishra brings laughter to the screen, while other supporting cast members like Zarina Wahab, Suman Patel, and Rohit Chaudhary deliver their roles well.
